Joining Our Hands Together
For the Future
It is beginning to take shape.... |
| In the following four photographs, you will see the
transformation that is taking place in the lower level. The
first photo shows a view facing the old choir area of the lower
Church. During the renovations, new staircases are being constructed
that will lead to a small landing in what was once the old choir
area. The second photo shows the demolition. The third shows
the new platform in place. And the fourth shows the metal framing
in place for the staircases. |

Fr. Casey Celebrates 40th Anniversary
of
Ordination to Priesthood |
 |
Family, friends, parishioners, and former
parishioners of Fr. Peter Casey gathered at St. Agatha Church
for the Noon Mass
to celebrate his 40 years of ministry! |
A Note from Fr. Casey:
"The actual date of my being ordained to the Priesthood
was May 29, 1968. Today, a little over 40 years later, I give
thanks to God, in a special way, for that invitation. As I
look back and remember, I know that a loving God has graced
me in so many ways. My family, my friends, and the people
I have served and served with have been so supportive through
the years. Each assignment I have been called to in the Archdiocese
has been a gift in my life.
I have been fortunate!
May 29, 1968 was a “rainy” Wednesday, however,
there was brightness in the Cathedral of the Holy Cross as
the celebration of the Eucharist and Ordination to the Priesthood
took place. On that Wednesday morning, we who were to be ordained
stood before Cardinal Cushing and spoke the words,
“I am willing and ready, with the help of God.”
In our Catholic Christian tradition, the Sacraments are ongoing
realities.
So often, in any given day, I continue to
hear these words going through my mind and heart,
“I am willing and ready, with the help of God.” |
I thank all of you for being,
in some way, instruments of God’s grace and life to
me as I live this sacrament and vocation. I am your priest,
yet,
we are all in this together because through the waters of
Baptism, we have been called
to be a holy people, God’s chosen people.
We are called to be Priest, Prophet and King!" |

May 2007 - Pastoral Planning Report |
In January 2006, Cardinal Sean O’Malley
identified three areas of pastoral life that he considered
particularly challenging for the archdiocese today—Faith
Formation, Marriage, and Pastoral Planning. He appointed a
committee to study each area and charged each committee with
bringing its findings and recommendations to him and to the
Presbyteral and Archdiocesan Pastoral Councils. In elaborating
on his charge to the Pastoral Planning Committee, the Cardinal
asked that the Committee look at what exists in terms of services
and programs; review the best practices locally and nationally;
and formulate recommendations and priorities to guide the
archdiocese into the future. |
