Demolition

Demolition has moved along very rapidly, and most of the walls and flooring have been removed. A number of the sub-contractors have begun their work as well. We haven’t run into too many surprises so far, but with a structure that is 86 years old, there are bound to be some. The only problem encountered so far was a wire connecting the thermostats in the lower and upper churches that was hidden underneath the platform that the altar had previously been on.
During the demolition this wire was inadvertently severed and there was no heat in the Upper Church for the 7:00 and 9:00 Masses on one day. We’re sorry for the inconvenience this caused, and we have been assured by the Contractor that this will not re-occur. As the project moves along, we will have regular updates in the Bulletin and hope to include some pictures of the progress as well. We have a Project Meeting every Wednesday with the Contractor, the Architect and a Representative of the Archdiocese, so if you have questions or concerns, please call or e-mail so that they can be addressed at the meeting.
Also, as you know, we are having all of the statues from the old lower church re-furbished. Melissa Newton from Creed’s Crossing in Wollaston Center is handling this project and she has invited any parishioners who might be interested to stop by and see how things are progressing.
