Our mission in Faith Formation is to support parents as the primary teachers of our Catholic Faith and evangelists within their families. This is called the Domestic Church. Simply put, the Domestic Church is Church in the home, where families grow in faith and holiness together. To support the Domestic Church our Faith Formation Program consists of the following:
Grades 1 - 5 Use the "Discover! Finding Faith in Life" program; a home-based, child-friendly, self-directed online learning platform. This engaging program supports the domestic church, allowing families the convenience and flexibility to complete faith lessons at their own pace. Supplemental materials are provided to extend online learning.
Along with the home-based program we offer optional, in-person family gatherings held at St. Agatha Parish aimed to build community and celebrate the faith together:
BELIEVE Nights consist of families coming together to share dinner, games, fun, and discuss faith with other families based on the Gospels.
ENCOUNTER Evenings consist of families coming together to share dinner, games, fun, and the option to take part in liturgical-based activities for families such as Reconciliation, Adoration, Stations of the Cross, Rosary, etc.
BELIEVE NIGHTS AND ENCOUNTER EVENINGS will occur on select Wednesday evenings from 5:00 - 6:30 pm throughout the Faith Formation Year (dates to be announced).
The COMPLETION of ALL online chapters of the St. Mary's Press"Discover! Finding Faith in Life", the home-based onlineprogram, is a REQUIREMENT for all grades 1 - 5.
Preparation for the reception of the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion is a two-year process, generally in Grades 1 and 2. If your child is beyond the first grade and has not participated in a preparation program, please get in touch with the faith formation office to discuss appropriate enrollment in the program.
